Supreme Scrap Tournament 2014 Challenge #1 - 1000 Steps from Home

Hi, everyone!

This year 2014, as I'll be bidding of most of my crafting commitments goodbye, I joined a Supreme Scrap World Tournament (SST).  This tournament started last year but I wasn't able to join or participate in the tournament.  I had to decline the SST invite accorded to me as I had too much on my hands in crafting in terms of managing 2 challenge blogs here and abroad and various endeavours e.g. getting into digital crafting as a Creative Team Member and the like.  It's my very 1st tournament to join and a world tournament at that.

I have been having feeling quite nervous as Tournament Challenge #1 was going to post and so as the others in the Philippine team/continget.

Here I am with my very 1st LO for SST Challenge #1 with a theme of 1000 Steps from Home.  The Challenge is to prepare a double page LO either mixed media or not and never use spray inks in the preparation.  3 or more photos to show on the LO as well with 50 plus words in your journaling.

Here is my double page LO:

1000 Steps from Home ~ Where do I Live?  ASIA

I created my double page LO utilizing 3 Birds.com pattern papers, pink heart doilies from my friend in the USA (Cheryl Nyboer), colorful chipboards from 3 Birds.com, foam alphabets from All About Scrapbooking (Filstar Distributor Corp.), journaling cards from Webster pages, washi tapes, UK pop tapes, assorted buttons, string of pearls and a play of mixed media on opposing sides of my LO with DIY stencils and stencils from Maya Road.

My 2-page LO is in bright and pastel colors, created the way I would create the base of any digital LO of mine (a 1st for me to try on a paper / traditional layout) and expounded on both sides with lots of journaling cards and use of different brands and stencil designs.  I originally planned to utilize abaca twine instead of a string of pearls but my glue this time around would take me more than a day to stick and glue each few inches of the abaca twine.  I guess, patience which usually is my virtue got over me with choosing between a string of pearls and abaca twine to adorn my 2-page layout. {sigh}  Still looks wonderful for me.  I was also going to highlight by tracing the title or alphabets found in the middle of my 2-pager but haven't got the time to do so at the right moment. {sigh}

Thanks so much for having me for Tournament Challenge #1, Bep Walters and Nanette van der Veen.

Lovely as ever,
