"Christmas 2011" for Kaboodle Doodles Challenge #113: Anything But a Rectangle

Kaboodle Doodles' Challenge #113 is "Anything but a Rectangle".  You could submit any project as long as it fits the challenge theme.  Winner to be drawn randomly with sponsor prize of 3 images from The Stamping Boutique Tues, Apr. 10, 2012 at US timezone.  Participants have until Sun., Apr. 8, 2012 to link their entries at the Kaboodle Doodles Challenge Blog.

I'm still in the Christmas LO scrapping mode.  Though the challenge would normally pertains to a card, I scrapped out the idea of creating a circle or square easle or regular card.  I WANTED TO CREATE AN LO!  LOL  . . .  stubborn me.  I'm just so craving to have this Christmas photo scrapped with these papers.

So, without further ado, here's my layout:

I utilized 2 digi images from The Stamping Boutique:  "Holly Berry" & "Holly Berry with Ribbon".  They were so much fun to craft with.  I had them paper pieced. lol  And I'm satisfied with my finished layout.

I made use of Crate Paper for my pattern papers.  The hanging Christmas balls were like origami in 3D effect.  This was inspired by a layout by Ria Mojica where she utilized the same circle folding technique for her fruits on a tree on her layout.  I made mine into Christmas balls.  Doesn't it look great!!  This LO is FUN, FUN, FUN for I enjoyed adding the stitching on the corners and how I played with markers for the gold shine.  Isn't fantastic!  I was dubious it would like okay. LOL

Anyway, drop by Kaboodle Doodles Challenge Blog for more DT inspiration. . .

"Crisostomo" LO for Let's Get Sketchy Challenge #5

We're on our 2nd month since Let's Get Sketchy's Grand Opening.  We have another fabulous sketch by Brenshevia Baker.  I had a blast creating my sample LO for this Challenge #5.  It was glitters and artist's medium galore for me and of course, what's left in my stash of Prima flowers.  I need to re-stash or procure new and beautiful flowers again (I think) looking at my dwindling flower stash. . . . Anyway, back to the challenge:

About Me:

Kathleen Margaret Charity B. Hernandez
Full Name

I know I have a long name but you can simply call me Kath I am so excited to be part of the team as MSW's Layout Designer.

I’m single & I live in Manila, Philippines. I'm a Certified Public Accountant and had graduated with a BS in Accountancy degree from a good university.

I had no time for crafting in my younger years for I was intent on finishing my studies and finding work. Now, I stay at home with my loved ones taking care of their needs and having time for my previously shelved crafting hobbies.  I got started into the craft last Sept. 14, 2010 and have been enjoying the craft since then.

My scrappy friends characterize my style as FUN & BRIGHT (just not sure if bordering to whimsical) for I love pastels and bright colors. In my point of view, my style is CLEAN & SIMPLE. But at times going for simple minimalist layouts. And most of the time, it's just anything goes. I like planning my layouts and winging it out with blings and embellishments.

It's my 1st reveal together at My Sketch World.  And we had an inspiring sketch by Lucy Chesna to work with for the bloghop.

Here is the April 1st sketch from My Sketch World:

My work / LO Sample:

I dabbled on Echo Park's Victoria Garden's Collection kit.  It takes time for collection kits to reach our LSS here in my country.  Thus, I got to play with this awesome collection just now.  And I have been churning a number of LOs with these.

I have made up my mind to indulge in mixed media with these materials as you can see with my layout above.  It was a relaxing effort to exert.  I just love the over-all garden feel and at the same time Victorian or for me romantic look of the LO.

I made sure all the sticker embellishments were popped up for dimension and unnoticeable areas backed up by a darker color for contrast.  Certain areas were texturized also.  A splash of bright colored embellishments such as the polymer clay mini flowers were added & slightly subdued shocking red fabric butterfly was all a flutter about my page.

I hope you all like it, as I was surprised by the result.  I guess I'm always dubious of the output when it entails mixed media. LOL

Thanks for being here and now its time to head to Toni Archer's blog and check out her creation.

Thanks & Very Truly Yours,

"Photobooth sMiLes" for Sketches4All

For the month of April 2012 at Sketches4All,  I have another sketch challenge for you using my own created sketch.  Create CARD or an LO with the sketch below. . .

You just need to:
1. Upload your LO in the Sketches4All's gallery with a tag: Kath’sSketch3
2. Challenge starts Apr. 1, 2011 and ends Apr. 30, 2011 (at Manila, Philippines timezone). To view Manila time: http://localtimes.info/Asia/Philippines/Manila/
3.  Upload your LO also to my challenge discussion thread in Sketches4All.

I had a relaxing time creating this LO. . . though I admit the Echo Park's Little Girl papers used are really girly.  It would have been perfect for a little girl's LO but I had to use a different photo, for my vintage little girl's photo would have been off for this line . . . hmmm unless I could have printed them in b&w?  (oh! didn't think of that!)

Anyway, I decided to make use of the paper for a photobooth shot of a recent wedding the family attended last January.  The bride & groom's motif were of "girly" girl pink and was so much perfect for EP's "Little Girl" line.  I just added embellishments from our local brand:  All About Scrapbooking's "Rouge de Garance" line of embellishments for a more festive and older girly girl look, right? ;-)

Hope you all like my LO!!

CHALLENGES ENTERED:
1. Joan's Textile Layout Challenge at MSW for Apr 2012 - using embroidery floss, felt & pleated satin
2. Andrew's Spring Fling BlogHop Challenge at CC - 12x12 spring LO

Art Journal (my 1st)

Creating an "art journal" was the last project we did in Iris Uy's class last Mar. 24, 2012.  We had a play with Distress Stains, embossing powders and glimmer glaze or was it glimmer glam?

Here's the completed or finished work:

I still consider it a work-in-progress with just adding a black cardstock as matting and just (1) itsy-bitsy detail that I'm having 2nd thoughts of . . . . thinking! thinking about it still!
