I'm introducing a Papercrafter, specifically a Cardmaker and a friend on Creo by Lady Katutz' Guests On Spotlight.

My very 8th Guest on Spotlight was my former Lady Boss at Kaboodle Doodles Challenge Blog.  She's none other than Christine Pereira.  Below are the former logos of Kaboodle Doodles in her time.

We fondly call Chistine Pereira as Chris.  We love working with her.  She was the very 1st one who gave me my Design Team Member stint in year 2011, when I started scrapbooking in year 2010.

She took me in, as one of the lone scrapbook layout artist / designer of the team.  My co-design team members were a pool of cardmakers who loves creating handmade cards.  Chris made it possible for me to utilize sponsored digital images on any of my paper traditional scrapbook layouts for the challenge blog.

I, later on, chided her to incorporate into Kaboodle Doodles digital scrapbook works or layouts which she was happy to oblige to have me as the 1st in her design team to submit digital scrapbook projects.


I'm happy to mention, Chris entrusted Kaboodle Doodles Challenge Blog to me, after working for more or less than 5 years as administrator of Kaboodle Doodles Challenge Blog.  I only took helm of Kaboodle Doodles challenge blog for 2 years after Christine Pereira.

1.  I would like to know your complete / full name and what you do.

Christine Doucette-Pereira

2.  How did you get started in your craft?

I attended a Stampin' Up! party hosted by the wife of a co-worker and became totally enthralled with the world of stamping and paper crafting.  I was a communication and language arts major in college and so I was always interested in typography and design.  When the world of personal computers opened, it was like Pandora's box for me.  With my introduction to stamping, I was able to combine my love of design with the craft and tools of stamping and I was hooked!

3.  Where there previous or other arts and crafts that you delved with or are currently enjoying?

I have been a potter since 1987 and work in functional, high fire porcelain.  I have a studio in my home with two wheels and both an electric and gas kiln along with many other tools of the ceramics trade.  I still enjoy working in clay but there are only so many hours in a day and because I also enjoy weaving (I have several looms and lots of fiber) and I also enjoy needlecrafts like knitting, crocheting and counted cross stitch, my days tend to be full of activity.  I also have a wonderful husband that I enjoy sailing with on our 36 foot sailboat.  This year we will be spending 4 months in the Keys and Bahamas!  Five children and six grandchildren also keep me pretty busy!

4.  Do you have hidden crafts that you like and enjoy by yourself?

I really enjoy cooking, but my husband is pretty much a gourmet chef and does most of the cooking in our house.  I enjoy being able to dabble occasionally in the kitchen!

5.  Amongst your crafts, which one did struck gold and became your main stint?  How did it help you?

I find that much of my time these days is spent on stamping and paper crafting.  I am now retired and the income that I can make from this helps to support my hobby and that is a good thing.

6.  How many years have you been dealing with your craft?  Or with each of your crafts?

I have been crafting since I was a child.  I come from a family of artists and was always encouraged to be creative.  I did not find "my" craft confidence until 1987 when I first was introduced to clay.  When that was successful for me, it gave me the confidence to try other things.

7.  What is your main motivation or inspiration for indulging with your craft?

I find it very difficult to be idle.  Retirement has actually proved to be a busier time for me than when I was working full time (I was an IT professional for 30 years).  I love to create beautiful things from the supplies I have around me.  I also love to create digital art works on the computer.  Staying busy and active helps me be enthusiastic about getting up every morning.  Who could ask for anything more?

8.  Five years before, where were you in your craft?  Five years from now, what do you envision for your craft?

I hope to continue to expand my artistic horizons.  I have been experimenting with water colors and painting and the world of clay and fiber are endlessly interesting.  My husband and I will continue to sail for several months a year and I am hoping that exposure to new places and new cultures will provide new inspiration!

9.  What are your major breakthroughs and milestones in relation to your craft or in the industry you are with?

The world of blogging opened up a whole new world for me.  Not only was I "out there" on my own, but I discovered the creative worlds of so many others.  The inspiration and motivation to do more and do it better is a constant impetus to me to go forward.

Guest On Spotlight: Nanette van der Veen of Book of Life Pocket Life Scrapbooking

Hi, everyone!

I'm introducing a Paper and Digital scrapbooker, a Project Lifer from Netherlands on Creo by Lady Katutz' Guests On Spotlight.

My very 7th Guest on Spotlight is a friend and my current Lady Boss at the Book of Life Project Life Scrapbooking Facebook Group.  She is also a former Lady Boss at the Netherlands-based Sunny Side Up Creations where I create digital art and papercrafts to artist trading cards for her European community members.  She's none other than Nanette van der Veen

I've found Nanette when I was looking or design team members for my Kaboodle Doodles Challenge Blog.  I was the incumbent administrator of the UK-based challenge blog.  She became my Design Team Member at Kaboodle Doodles Challenge Blog.

In turn, I also did work for her at her own all-craft-wide European challenge blog that is Sunny Side Up Creations.  This is where I was able to sport and show-off my crossstitch works and baking projects as Brooches n' Crossstitches and also as Creo by Lady Katutz.  I was the only Asian and Filipina in here design team as I did projects while managing my own Kaboodle Doodles and also my Filipino Scrapbookers Challenge Blog.

We later on, both worked together in introducing digital element freebies at Kaboodle Doodles facebook page.  She's my lone partner in creating digital freebies to our community members.  I create digital clusters, digital frames as freebies.  While, Nanette creates digital images and digital project life elements.

She later on ended up with my Kaboodles Doodles as one of our challenge sponsors, as she has her own scrapbook and project life outfit in Netherlands.


She went on to host a worldwide papercrafting contest on scrapbook layouts and handmade cards.  This was called the Supreme Scrap Tournament.  As of this year 2015, it has been their 2nd year holding such worldwide event.  Oh, I did love or dreamed of their tournament's trophy!!

2.  How did you get started in your craft?

Once.I saw a show of Oprah Winfrey about scrapbooking. I was sold immediately. Must have been in 2003 or so

3.  Where there previous or other arts and crafts that you delved with or are currently enjoying?

I always used to craft: clay, jewelry, origami before scrapbooking . I also do digital scrapbooking and project life

4.  Do you have hidden crafts that you like and enjoy by yourself?

5.  Amongst your crafts, which one did struck gold and became your main stint?  How did it help you?

Scrapbooking! Because you can combine any craft technique you like. It helps me to relax

6.  How many years have you been dealing with your craft?  Or with each of your crafts?

Scrapbooking since 2003. Project life since 2013

7.  What is your main motivation or inspiration for indulging with your craft?

It keeps me sane. If I scrapbook nothing else matters...

8.  Five years before, where were you in your craft?  Five years from now, what do you envision for your craft?

Five years ago I produced 10 spreads a weeks. I was in various DT's. It was.my main hobby. In five years time I am sire that i will still be crafting. I tried a m scrapbook shop, digital scrapbook shop but that is not making enough money tolive of. So I hope that Inwill still enjoy it as.a hobby. And I hope tonhave planned my life so that I have at least one morning a week to enjoy my hobby

9.  What are your major breakthroughs and milestones in relation to your craft or in the industry you are with?

Most important thing I learned....let gonof the pressure that you have to scrap everything in life...it becomes an obligation not a hobby. ...let it go and scrap stuff you feel like. Let m go of the obligatory chronical timeline. Choose the photos that really inspire you.

Scrapbooking is like life....very messy most of the time, but the result is great to remember

Guest On Spotlight: Fia Uiterwijk of Sketches4All (S4A or S4All)

Hi, everyone!

I'm introducing a Papercrafter on Creo by Lady Katutz' Guests On Spotlight.

My very 6th Guest on Spotlight is my former Lady Boss,  the Administrator at Sketches4All, none other than our well-loved Fia Uiterwijk.

I've worked with Fia as her Design Team Member at Sketches4All.  This was my early years starting as a Designer (DT) for a craft and art site for an international crafting community.  Sketches4All (S4A) has Netherlands and USA as the main community of crafters with a sprinkle of a few Asians like me.

I spearheaded in managing and creating Sketches4All's Facebook side to complement the Sketches4All main community website.  This was for the majority of the active community member and the others who are more active in Facebook.   I arrange notifications and calendars of activities, challenges and events at Sketches4All's Facebook Group/Community to alert them as to when they should sign-in at the main Sketches4All website and forum.

My work with Sketches4all covered producing Design Team projects for monthly events at the Website's forum.  Aside from this,  I hold monthly challenges (themed, sketch or game) providing prizes coming from my own country, the Philippines.

I also worked with the other Design Team members on brainstorming monthly events and sometimes looking for sponsors for these main forum events.

2.  How did you get started in your craft?

I saw some beautiful papers and embellishments in a hobby store, I was sold and my addiction started.

3.  Where there previous or other arts and crafts that you delved with or are currently enjoying?

Previous crafts were embroidery, knitting, and crochet.

4.  Do you have hidden crafts that you like and enjoy by yourself?

I have no hidden crafts.

5.  Amongst your crafts, which one did struck gold and became your main stint?  How did it help you?

Scrapbook!its a way to have some relaxing time for ME!

6.  How many years have you been dealing with your craft?  Or with each of your crafts?

I started when I was about 16 years. Scrapping since 2006

7.  What is your main motivation or inspiration for indulging with your craft?

To make memories so my son can look back later and see all the albums.

8.  Five years before, where were you in your craft?  Five years from now, what do you envision for your craft?

Scrapbook related I was a beginner and enjoyed looking and learn from others.

9.  What are your major breakthroughs and milestones in relation to your craft or in the industry you are with?

I learned a lot of technics in scrapbook and also made some great friends online

Guest On Spotlight: Louise Gannon-Forsyth of Southern Girls Challenge Blog

I'm introducing a Scrapbooker on Creo by Lady Katutz' Guests On Spotlight.

My very 5th Guest on Spotlight is my former Boss, a co-Administrator at SGC, none other than our well-loved Lou of Southern Girls Challenge (SGC) Blog.  She works together with co-Administrator Tracy Jackson.

I've worked both with Lou and Tracy for 1 year from September 6, 2012 to September 5, 2013.  I worked mainly as their Design Team Member for paper traditional scrapbook layouts. From producing or creating scrapbook layouts to scrapbook LOs for Southern Girls, it was a fun design team member stint for me to be with them.

My work with Lou and the Southern Girls team helped me transition from paper traditional scrapbook LOs to mixed media layouts.  The clean lines are still there but my layouts were not as simple anymore.  It is indeed, a very nice team for me to transition with in my scrapbook art.

I also worked for them as a semi-Creative Writer, working my paper layouts with Scrapbooking.com US online magazine.

1.  I would like to know your complete / full name and what you do.

2.  How did you get started in your craft?

I started Scrapbooking when I pregnant with my oldest son in 2005

3.  Where there previous or other arts and crafts that you delved with or are currently enjoying?

I took art at high school and did a bit of sewing but that was the extent of my crafting or Arty ness

4.  Do you have hidden crafts that you like and enjoy by yourself?

I enjoy lots of crafts and they are all hidden in the spare room, including my scrapbooking and cardmaking wink emoticon They include art journaling, sewing and beading.

5.  Amongst your crafts, which one did struck gold and became your main stint?  How did it help you?

I always return to scrapbooking when I hit a slump with my other crafts as I love that my kids enjoy looking at the albums.

6.  How many years have you been dealing with your craft?  Or with each of your crafts?

I have been scrapbooking for 10 years and cardmaking for 8. The others I am not too sure, the art journalling maybe 2?

7.  What is your main motivation or inspiration for indulging with your craft?

to be honest I have had so much going on with life in general that at the moment it is DT commitments or I probably wouldn't be crafting at all right now.

8.  Five years before, where were you in your craft?  Five years from now, what do you envision for your craft?

Who knows where i will be in 5 years, one thing I am sure of though I will have been kicked out of my warm sunny room into the dreary little office on the otherside of the house to make room for growing, hormonal teenagers.

9.  What are your major breakthroughs and milestones in relation to your craft or in the industry you are with?

Still waiting for a break through, maybe one day I will put something forward for publication that would be pretty awesome.

One sentence or word - how about 3.... ECLECTIC and MESSY.

2.  How did you get started in your craft?

I started as "postage stamp accumulator" as a child, since I was curious about those miniature images.

3.  Where there previous or other arts and crafts that you delved with or are currently enjoying?

Reading, philately/stamp collecting, LEGO...and a few others.

4.  Do you have hidden crafts that you like and enjoy by yourself?

Hidden? No.

5.  Amongst your crafts, which one did struck gold and became your main stint?  How did it help you?

Philately is (one of the) most educational hobbies. It sparks and fuels the appetite for general culture.

6.  How many years have you been dealing with your craft?  Or with each of your crafts?

Over half a century of stamp collecting...

7.  What is your main motivation or inspiration for indulging with your craft?

The joy of cultural research, and even of creativity in philately.

8.  Five years before, where were you in your craft?  Five years from now, what do you envision for your craft?

Five years ago I had more time for my hobby...I even had a philatelic blog...Five years from now I hope to have again more time...:)

9.  What are your major breakthroughs and milestones in relation to your craft or in the industry you are with?

In 2005 I switched my focus from stamp collecting, to maximaphily. I also found the joy of designing personalized stamps, personalized postcards, and personalized postmarking devices. All those are best brought together in maximum cards (maxicards).

10.  Describe yourself and your craft in one short phrase, word or sentence.

I am a passionate global promoter of philately (in general) and maximaphily (in particular), on the creative side (designing personalized stamps, postcards and postmarks). I have already designed for friends/partners/clients from North ("and Central") America, South America, Europe, Africa and Asia. :)

Guest On Spotlight: Tracy Jackson of Southern Girls Challenge Blog

I'm introducing a Cardmaker and Card Designer on Creo by Lady Katutz' Guests On Spotlight.

My very 3rd Guest on Spotlight is my former Boss, a co-Administrator at SGC, none other than our well-loved Tracy of Southern Girls Challenge (SGC) Blog.  She works together with co-Administrator Louise (Lou) Forsythe.

I've worked both with Tracy and Lou for 1 year from September 6, 2012 to September 5, 2013.  I worked mainly as their Design Team Member for paper traditional scrapbook layouts. From producing or creating scrapbook layouts to scrapbook LOs for Southern Girls, it was a fun design team member stint for me to be with them.

I would never forget working with a few of Southern Girls' sponsors when I could accommodate digital images on my scrapbook layouts.  Tracy is the Sponsor Coordinator of Southern Girls Challenge Blog.  I went non-traditional, not just consuming normal scrapbook embellishments but I poured on my frustrations in baking - in my makings of becoming supposedly a Pastry Chef.  So, baking supplies made their way to my Design Team Scrapbook projects together with the sponsored digital images for Southern Girls Challenge Blog with Lou and Tracy.  

They're a very happy bunch of Aussies and New Zealanders to work with.

2.  How did you get started in your craft?

Have always been crafty, but got introduced to card making/scrapbooking by a friend about 10 years ago 

3.  Where there previous or other arts and crafts that you delved with or are currently enjoying?

I try my hand at anything crafty from needlework, knitting, creating big paintings for the garden, and have recently discovered a new love - art journaling

4.  Do you have hidden crafts that you like and enjoy by yourself?

Only my paintings. Love to have crafty afternoons with friends.

5.  Amongst your crafts, which one did struck gold and became your main stint?  How did it help you?

Would have to be card making and my love copics. This opened a whole new world to me being on design teams, and just recently joined Lacy Sunshine as a specialist Colourist.

6.  How many years have you been dealing with your craft?  Or with each of your crafts?

Quite a few years now, I find it a great stress releiver after a busy day at work, and like to swap my crafts around depending on what mood Im in and what time I have.

7.  What is your main motivation or inspiration for indulging with your craft?

For me it is all about having "me time" and I love it when my youngest joins me and creates also.

8.  Five years before, where were you in your craft?  Five years from now, what do you envision for your craft?

Nothing has changed from 5 years ago and I suspect next 5 years will be the same... trying to keep up with all the new and wonderful product out there!!!!

9.  What are your major breakthroughs and milestones in relation to your craft or in the industry you are with?

Definatley when I got asked to be on a manufacturing "world team" for Marianne Design. This quiet girl from little New Zealand on a big well known manufactures design team!!! WOW

10.  Describe yourself and your craft in one short phrase, word or sentence.

I have always been artistic and willing to give anything a go. Creativity for me is like food for the soul.

Guest On Spotlight: Designer Priscilla Ashley, formerly of Beautifully Blessed Designs

Hi, everyone!

I'm introducing another Graphic Designer on Creo by Lady Katutz' Guests On Spotlight.

My very 2nd Guest on Spotlight is my former Designer Prissy from Beautifully Blessed Designs.

I've worked with Prissy for 6 months from April to September 2014.  I worked mainly as her Creative Team Lead. From producing or creating digital scrapbook layouts to blog write-ups for the digital scrapbook store we are housed in, to co-managing Beautifully Blessed Designs Creative Team with Prissy, it was fun stint to be with BBD.  It is indeed, my very 1st TEAM LEAD post with a Graphic Designer.

I would never forget creating project life pages with her kits for my project life album in 2014.  I would also never forget marketing BBD's kit with blog write-ups both at my blog and Scrappy Bee's blog as both BBD's Team Lead and Scrappy Bee's Worker Bee.  

She's a very accomodating Graphic Designer and boss to work with and I love her mini kits.  She gave me another bird's eye view of behind the scenes of managing a creative team and not just staying in the role as one of her creative team members who creates layouts.  Her digital kits are in bold but happy colors and are characteristically fun to work with in reds and other rich, bright colors.

Prissy of BBD became my official a sponsor of  3 to almost about 4 months worth of Project Life layouts for my 2014 PL DIY Album.  Hopefully, I could finish my 2014 album by going back to my 2014 photos to scrap in a Project Life way.

1.  I would like to know your complete / full name and what you do.

Priscilla Ashley

2.  How did you get started in your craft?

I started digital scrapbooking after I became a "target" at CafeMom. I tagged for about 2 years before I realized I liked making layouts more. 

3.  Where there previous or other arts and crafts that you delved with or are currently enjoying?

Yes, I love knitting, crocheting, do it yourself projects, and couponing (I consider it a craft to be able to save 90% on everyday household necessities).

4.  Do you have hidden crafts that you like and enjoy by yourself?

No, I'm pretty open about the things I enjoy.

5.  Amongst your crafts, which one did struck gold and became your main stint?  How did it help you?

Of all my crafts, I'd have to say couponing. It has helped my family save an outstanding amount of money that I can now put toward my other passions.

6.  How many years have you been dealing with your craft?  Or with each of your crafts?

I've been in the digital scrapbooking world for approximately 4 years, crocheting for 11 years, couponing for 6 months, and I taught myself how to knit about 8 months ago.

7.  What is your main motivation or inspiration for indulging with your craft?

For couponing, that would be the sales and awesome coupons. Also, I love being able to help my husband stretch a paycheck. For knitting and crocheting, I'd have to say the hope of helping people have a warm blanket, hat, or socks motivates me to continue doing it. As for digital scrapbooking, all the photos I take of my boys are a great motivator for me.

8.  Five years before, where were you in your craft?  Five years from now, what do you envision for your craft?

Five years ago, I didn't know where life would take me. I had no idea I would develop so many new skills and talents. At this point (5 years later), I've learned tagging, digital scrapbooking, freebie creation, met many new people online, and learned how to coupon. Five years from now, I hope to have a small business for my knitting and crochet work, finish at least 1 scrapbook, and have a huge stockpile.

9.  What are your major breakthroughs and milestones in relation to your craft or in the industry you are with?

A major breakthrough for me would be to finish an entire large afghan in either knit or crochet, finish a scrapbook or print a page for scrapbooking (I've never been able to do that), and to start stockpiling more expensive laundry detergent.

10.  Describe yourself and your craft in one short phrase, word or sentence.

My crafts help me make it through life. Aside from my firm belief in God, my wonderful husband and kids, crafting keeps me sane.
