Be A Kolorista

Hi, everyone!

Coloring has become an art or an art form, as young and old alike plunge into coloring with the influx of Coloring Books for Adults in other countries.  The Philippines also welcomed this wave of coloring with coloring enthusiasts, aficionados and masters come together to share their talents.

We call ourselves Koloristas here in Manila.  Workshops, here and there, abound as coloring books found the main display and shelves of every leading bookstores (national or specialty bookstores) here in Manila.

I would like to share a photo of a Coloring Workshop for Adults, I attended which was conducted by Iris Babao-Uy last October 24, 2015.

We learned the various techniques on coloring from shading, blending to burnishing and the numerous art mediums and kinds of pens, pencils one can play with coloring.

Seattle's Best Coffee's Macaroons

Hi, everyone!

I started going to Seattle's Best Coffee now more regularly after a work-out from the nearest gym.  I have to keep myself fit and healthy, afterall.

I used to go to Seattle's Best Coffee at the turn of the millenium, when I was still an employee at a GFI.  I would sometimes meet friends there for a tete-a-tete or for coffee after a dinner date.  My SBC of the year at that time was Seattle's Best - Greenbelt 5.

A decade after, my Seattle's Best Coffeshop turned out to be the one at Filinvest.  It was always after a work-out that I'd take a breather before going home.  My Christmases at that time was livelier. . .  WHAT with their coffee planner promos . . .  that I'd keep tab of all the coffee for I need to earn their planner.  My happiest take home from Seattle's Best - Filinvest, was coming home with 3 SBC planners and SBC glass mugs.  I spent my allowances on SBC coffee for them planners and for my mug collection.  

I thought I'd never forgive myself for doing so LOL . . . . not until this 2nd decade of the millenium, wherein I didn't hesitate to make use of my planners . . .  all in the virtue of Postcrossing.  It is my new found hobby, furthering my love for writing and collecting postcards and stamps.

This year 2015, I'm back with SBC - Filinvest.  This time on the virtue of keeping fit and healthy, enjoying healthy to vegetarian food or low carb food with them.

Chef's salad and breakfast meals are a treat for me on certain occasions.  It now cures my salad or leafy appetite.  The other meal cures my appetite for snacking on moderation on chips, peanut butter and french toast . . . . all not overly much or just not too much . . . . all moderated.

I just love it, this time.  I'm turning slimmer with a more healthier self-regulated diet.  A new leaf for me and not just eating what's on the table served hot.

AND . . . You know WHAT?!!!

I discovered Seattle's Best is now serving macaroons.

And . . . 

This SBC macaroons has my seal of approval!!

It is just how I used to bake macaroons with my mom in the late 1980's!!

We don't make them anymore in this time.

And I do cherish that the exact macaroon taste can now be found at Seattle's Best Coffeeshop.  It did cure my years of fixation over my own home-baked macaroons!

And I just love it served with Steaming Hot Mocha.

McDonald's Chicken Fillet Ala King

Hi, everyone!

It's not often that I come up with post on Food, albeit a Food Review.  I had literally stopped from writing on Trip Advisor for a number of months now, though I hope I could get back to it, but it seems it gets tiresome just getting to it these past few months.  I know I have a lot of catching up to do with Trip Advisor someday soon.

For now, I'd like to share a post here on my blog on the new product this 2015 of McDonald's Philippines.  It's Chicken Fillet Ala King!!

It made me travel back to memory lane, when I was already a senior in the auditing/accounting firm I was working for in 1995.  It was the 1st time I was treated to a meal by my co-auditor from the team of auditors I'm with. She's been the co-worker or co-auditor I most worked with not until I got new hires to work with me in return, making me the senior in the audit on fieldwork.

I miss the times working with her.  As a token of friendship, she treated me to Chicken Ala King at Frenchbaker at Landmark Foodcourt located in the heart of Makati City, in the midst of the big Commercial Center in Makati, in 1995.  {It was in that year that Frenchbaker was bought and was newly acquired by Jollibee Foods Corp.} It was just the 2 of us on a break away from the hustle and bustle of our audit work.  We would usually eat at the client site with food deliveries or at our own office building canteen or client's canteen.

The taste is very much similar with what McDonald's offer this year 2015 here in the Philippines.  Their new product really brought back fun working memories.

The meat of the chicken fillet was served tender, juicy and the outside crisp as it is breaded chicken fillet.  I like the cream sauce Ala King very much.  It is this very distinctive taste that reminds me of Frenchbaker and the good old times with my fellow senior Ana.

It's best served with softdrinks (Coke or Sprite works with me), but I preferred pineapple juice as I'm dieting - a pledge to trim down after gaining so much weight recuperating at home from the operation.

So here's to more fantastic meals, may they bring forth wonderful memories of me working in the corporate jungle or corporate world or just being out there with my profession in my younger years.

Thanks, for those fun times of working it all out and of working hard as an SGVian in those years from 1994-1996.
