INTRODUCTION:
With Independence Day coming, I’ve decided to share with you
an LO, entitled: Watching Fireworks Display for Robin’s Nest Design Team Call.
Robin's Nest Blog: Chattering Robins
June 12 is Philippine Independence Day & the USA’s 4th of July is just a few weeks
away. Though I don’t join much on the
revelry, I thought an LO on watching some fireworks display is apt for this
occasion.
Actually, the photo was taken during a PyroMusical
Competition in my country. And I was so
glad to find Robin’s Nest Fireworks Patter Paper very suitable for my lay
out. Below is my step-by-step tutorial:
MATERIALS & TOOLS UTILIZED:
SUPPLIES:
Pattern Paper: Robin’s
Nest “Fireworks”, Bo Bunny;
Cardstock: Star Paper
Corp.;
Digi Images: Meljen’s
Designs “Vroom”;
Ric Rac: All About Scrapbooking/Filstar Distributors
Corp.
Foam Stars: UBL
Foam Alphabet
Stickers: About Scrapbooking/Filstar
Distributors Corp.
Brush Markers: Marvy Uchida
Journaling Pen: Parker
TOOLS:
Letratag: Dymo
Paper Shapers: Provo
Craft “wave”
INSTRUCTIONS:
1.
I decided to highlight Robin’s Nest pattern
paper print by choosing to utilize the parts of the paper without so much
fireworks print which is most of the upper and right side portion.
2.
With the paper being predominantly blue with a
few color accents, I also decided to utilize blue as the predominant color of
the whole LO. I played with blue cardstock
and a striped pattern paper cut into a strip.
3.
To start off, I got my blue cardstock and cut
out a shape using another die cut paper to follow. I adhered this shaped cardstock on the upper
right portion of my base pattern paper.
4.
I applied double faux stitching outlining the
inside of the shaped cardstock.
5.
Then, I affixed my photo slightly on the left of
this shaped blue cardstock, leaving space for journaling on the right side.
6.
Moving to the lower right side of the base
pattern paper, I positioned my strip of striped pattern paper vertically on the right side bridging the
shaped cardstock on top to the lower part of the base pattern paper.
7.
I’ve printed my digital image on blue cardstock
and paper pieced the automobile on the digital image. Carefully, I applied coloring on the
automobile digital image leaving the other parts of the digital stamp colorless
against the blue cardstock. Trim the
printed digital image on blue cardstock utilizing wave decorative scissors.
8.
Adhere the prepared digital image on the bottom right
of your LO, next to the base of the vertical stripe pattern paper.
9.
Glue down your ric rac outlining the strip of
stripe pattern paper.
10.
Scatter your foam star stickers around your
photo.
11.
Journalize on the provided journaling space.
12.
Affix your LO’s title utilizing a mix of foam
alphabet stickers and Dymo label sticker.
You now have a finished “Fireworks” LO just for the
festivities. HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY,
everyone!!!
TECHNIQUE USED ON
MY LO:
I know most of you would rather use the traditional
embellishments on your layouts. But for
me, I’ve learned and would like to share the art of
utilizing digital stamps as embellishments on an LO.
For most, digital stamps are only utilized for handmade
greeting cards. They color it or paper
piece them and mount them on their card base.
As for me, I made my 12x12 pattern papers a giant card base except that
it has to go together with my chosen photo for an LO. Should I rather just say that I fancied
making digital stamps as embellishments?
It’s a lot simpler - another way of saying it.
It’s economical because once procured, you can print and
utilize them again and again for any type of project you may wish to include
them in. Unlike traditional
embellishments that you get to utilize only once and need to procure another or
lots of them for use in traditional LOs.
More experienced scrapbookers utilize rubber and acrylic
stamps for a shabby chic look utilizing mixed media for more texture. But for me, having a fun and bright crafting
style, digital stamps are less costly and economical if you would calculate the
overall cost of your completed layout.
So, why don’t you try utilizing digital stamps on your LOs? It might be worth your while!
Great fireworks page! I like the colorful stars. Have a happy Independence Day!
